Our 5-Step Patty Melt Sliders are an ode to classic diner-style patty melts, which are always served with caramelized onions and thick, buttery bread. Using Dinner Bell Salted Butter to caramelize the onions helps season them and makes them extra creamy — almost like an additional sauce. Sherry vinegar, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce add acidity and balance everything out.
How To:
- In a large skillet over low heat, combine 1 Tbsp vegetable oil and 3 large, thinly sliced white onions. Cook, stirring often, until golden and caramelized, 20 to 30 minutes. Stir in ¼ cup melted Dinner Bell Salted Butter and 1 ½ tsp sherry vinegar. Set aside.
- Divide and form 2 lbs ground beef into 8 square patties, and season both sides with salt. Set aside.
- Trim the crusts off 16 slices of Texas toast bread. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 2 Tbsp Dinner Bell Salted Butter. Working in batches, toast the bread for 3 minutes per side or until golden, adding more butter as needed.
- Wipe the pan clean and increase the heat to high. Working in batches, sear the patties on one side until golden brown, 6 minutes. Flip, top each with 1 slice of Dinner Bell American Cheese, and cook until the cheese is melted, 4 minutes. Transfer to a plate.
- In a small bowl, mix 2 Tbsp ketchup, 2 Tbsp yellow mustard, 2 Tbsp mayonnaise, and 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce. To assemble the sandwiches, layer half the toast with the sauce, caramelized onions, and patties. Spread the sauce on the remaining toast and top the sandwiches. Enjoy!
